4 Facts about Smittens
This morning I received an email from a mom needing more information about our Smittens. I thought I would share the answers here in case other people wanted to know too.
1. I was curious about whether they were waterproof or water resistant. Your description uses both terms, so I was just wondering how you say they fair in that area.
Answer: The shell fabric of Smittens is called Softshell. This fabric is treated with a DWR (durable water repellant) finish that is often used in outerwear fabrics, and is considered Waterproof/Breathable.
2. Does the band go behind the child in their jacket? And are adults able to get the child’s hands out and have the mittens hang at the end of their sleeves if they want to have a snack or climb something where they need more grip?
Answer: One of the great things about Smittens is that adults can get them off but kids can't. Simply grab the tip of the Smitten and pull.
3. How is the sizing? I have no idea if my son has normal, small, or large hands for his age 😂 It would be awesome if they could fit for 2 seasons, but I of course don’t want them to be huge.
Answer: If your Little is average size, the Smittens fit pretty true, I recommend matching the Smitten size to whatever clothing size fits. It is better to get their true size and not size up like you can with jackets and sweaters. I can't guarantee your Smittens will fit again next season, but I know lots of customers get two seasons out of a pair.
4. I noticed on the stock photos for the grey pair, it shows the band in two different colours, but there is not option to select the black or light grey band. If I ordered the grey, which would it come with?
Answer: I am in the process of switching all the Smittens to having a black band. Thanks for the heads up that I need to update the photos on the site.
